COURSE OVERVIEW
Tajweed (تَجْوِيد) literally means "to improve" or "to make better." In the context of the Qur’an, it refers to the set of linguistic and phonetic rules that ensure each letter is pronounced correctly, from its point of articulation (makhraj), with all of its rights (haqq) and characteristics (sifat).The Qur’an was revealed with Tajweed, and preserving the way it was recited by the Prophet ﷺ is an obligation on those who recite it. Allah says in the Qur’an
:وَرَتِّلِ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا
"And recite the Qur’an with measured recitation."(Surah Al-Muzzammil, 73:4)
